About Marvin & Leslie Wies
Marvin Wies trained as an artist at the Maryland Institute of Art and has spent a long career since the 1970s working in various media. He has exhibited nationally and now focuses on works inspired by nature and every day objects painted in a free style on antique ledger paper.
Leslie Wies worked as a photojournalist and became fascinated with found objects using Diana cameras. She now creates small figurative collages and constructions using anything she might encounter in her travels - from beach glass to pieces of metal and buttons.
"We've always been drawn to the unusual, the artistic, the one-of-a-kind. We search for unique antiques--found art, outsider art, early textiles, carvings, mid-century folk art signs: if it makes a one-of-a-kind statement, we're interested. We know you will be also.
In 2001, we began taking our art and antique inventory on the road. We travel from Florida to Maine and participate in 35 select shows each year. We are always buying from a variety of regions, gathering the best and most unique inventory from everywhere we travel. Our goal is to follow our passion and present the finest one-of-a-kind statement pieces.
